| General

Together for a better internet - it should become safer for all users. On today's Safer Internet Day 2021 action day, mindUp is supporting with an extended information offer on the topic of fake online shops as part of the INSPECTION project.

Especially in times of a lock-down, when online shopping is experiencing particularly high growth, new fake online shops are constantly emerging to deceive unsuspecting consumers and cheat them out of their money. Internet security for a better, safer internet is more important than ever. How can I protect myself? How do I react correctly if my websites have been manipulated? How can I recognize fraudulent online shops?

A research initiative of mindUp Web + Intelligence GmbH in cooperation with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and the cybersecurity department of BDO AG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft with the participation of associations and web hosts detects hacked websites and fake online stores and specifically informs the operators of the manipulated sites. The INSPECTION joint project, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), is divided into the areas of finding, treating and preventing, and thus pursues approaches to combating fraud in different areas of the overall process.

We are using today's "Safer Internet Day 2021" as an opportunity to expand the range of information on offer in order to answer the most important questions on the subject of internet fraud by fake online stores:
